The Little Fox Wallet (MetaMask) is a wallet that we often use. In our previous article, we introduced a tutorial on MetaMask Wallet’s associated coin security smart chain. Many netizens use the Polygon chain the most during the token transfer process because the cost of using MATIC coins for transfer is low. Today we will focus on introducing the tutorial on adding a MATIC chain to the Metamak wallet.
Abstract
MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet app and browser plugin that connects to the Ethereum main network by default. You can find this plugin on the official MetaMask website, which will guide you to the correct download address.
If connecting to other networks such as Polygon, you need to add some basic memory blockchain information to MetaMask. Including custom RPC website address, chain ID, and network name. You must enter a token address in order to add Polygon tokens.
Learning to add MetaMask to a newly created memory blockchain is a skill that can be used to add Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks such as Binance Smart Chain.
Introduction
Interacting with Polygon memory blockchain requires MetaMask and other compatible cryptocurrency wallets. But by default, MetaMask does not add Polygon as a network. Setting up a browser wallet to connect to Polygon is simple and can be completed in just a few minutes.
Installation and Settings of MetaMask
MetaMask can be downloaded from the MetaMask website and installed on Chrome, iOS, or Android. Be sure to check if you are using the official website and make sure to download the genuine MetaMask plugin.
After downloading and installing the cheat program, you will see the MetaMask welcome page. Click [Start] to experience it now.
If you are creating a new wallet, please click the [Create Wallet] button. You can also import old wallets using mnemonics through the [Import Wallet] option.
MetaMask will ask if you are willing to share anonymous usage data with them to help improve the plugin. Accepting or rejecting will not affect your normal use of MetaMask.
Choose to log in to the wallet with a secure password from the browser. Please note that this is not your mnemonic. Passwords are a security measure to prevent anyone from using your wallet through your device. If you forget your password, you can use cryptocurrency at any time through mnemonics.
After selecting the password, MetaMask will display you information about wallet mnemonics. If you are not familiar with the working principle of cryptocurrency wallets, please make sure to read this article thoroughly.
Now, you will see mnemonic words. Click lock to view the mnemonic words and write them down in the correct order. Place mnemonics in a safe location (preferably offline) and do not share them with others. This string of digits is the ultimate backup of your wallet and its contents. Click [Next] to continue.
Now, you must select the words at the bottom of the screen in the correct order to repeat your mnemonic words. Click [Confirm] again to complete the settings.
Your MetaMask wallet is now set up and ready to use. Click [Complete All] to view your wallet.
To make MetaMask easy to access, you can click on the puzzle icon and pin it to the toolbar to pin it to the Chrome browser. After the initial setup is completed, MetaMask only connects to Ethereum. Next, we will see how to connect Metamask to Polygon.
Configure Wallet
If Polygon is added to the wallet, some network details need to be added to the plugin. Firstly, open MetaMask and click on the network dropdown menu.
Now, click on [Add Network] in the pop-up window.
You need to add the following details on the [Add Network] page that opens. After completion, please click [Save].
Now you will successfully connect to the Polygon network.
Add Polygon tokens to MetaMask
You need to manually add to make Polygon tokens outside of MATIC appear on the wallet user interface (UI). Please note that your wallet can still receive tokens that have not been imported.
Firstly, go to PolygonScan and find the token contract and token details you want to add. If the token is not on PolygonScan, please be sure to obtain the contract address from the project’s official website or social media channels. Beware of false contracts created by criminals.
Return to MetaMask and click [Import Token].
Copy the token contract address, and MetaMask will automatically fill in the remaining details. If not, please add it manually. Please click on [Add Custom Token] to complete.
Click [Import Token].
Your wallet will now display the balance of the added token.
Summary
After setting up Polygon in MetaMask, you can start trading for free, collect non fungible tokens (NFTs), interact with decentralized finance (DeFi) DApps, and manage your cryptocurrency. You can even exchange tokens without leaving the plugin. MetaMask is not only suitable for Ethereum networks and Polygons; In fact, it also supports the entire Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) memory blockchain ecosystem, including the Binance Smart Chain. Follow our guide to immediately add more memory blockchains and start exploring.
